Pamela and Dave are getting married on November 21, 2009. This was a special photo shoot for me because Pam was my college "roomie." I've known her for almost ten years and I thought for sure I'd be her wedding photographer. I was honored when she asked me to be her Maid of Honor. =) How exciting!! I haven't been in a wedding since I was a little girl. I have already found out that this is going to be hard. I may have to sneak in a camera to the wedding lol... could I possibly hide one in my bouquet? =) I'll find a way haha... anyways... congrats to Pamela!! I'm so glad that she is truly happy!!! Looking forward to being Auntie Kristie hehe.... Here are a few of my favorites... and of course I had to include a few of their puppy :)

My Handsome Brother

As many of you know Ethan is my little model! He is the cutest little brother anyone could ever ask for. I'm thankful! He just turned four in May. I tried the same pose from 2 years ago... and he nailed it! ahhh It just reminds me of how handsome he is! These were taken a day before he started pre-school this year.

I've known Jamie for at least 10 years... more for sure. Time goes by so fast, can't say that enough. We got together to shoot her senior photos on 8/11/09. Yes she only brought 1 shirt. :) We had fun. We are getting together by the weekend to shoot more pictures of her and her horse... I am looking forward to that. I wish Jamie all of the success in the world. I hope your senior year goes by as quickly as you want it to. I'm sure you are ready for the "real world." Here are a few favorites....

House of Representatives

So to inform those who don't know....

I'm a Photographer for the House of Representatives on Capitol Hill during the week.

So therefore I can't really shoot portraits and weddings on the weekdays. I also don't get home until 6:30pm and I can't answer my phone until I leave work. So it might take 2-3 days until you hear back from me. Email is the best way to communicate at first because I can check my email at work. I can't answer my personal phone. Congressmen wouldn't like that too much huh? :) Bear with me... I have the entire month of August off because they are out of session so just bear with me. lol

Below are some quick shots of a few different views while at work :) The first shot is my building... the Rayburn ;)

Edit- I'm actually really proud of our government today and in no way do I think any negative thoughts about them. After meeting these congressmen and women they are pretty awesome!!! :) I love my job.

There will be a Bridal Show on March 8th at the Waldorf Jaycee Center.
"Southern Maryland Bridal Showcase" 2009 Winter Show

They are having a bride and groom dance off. The winners get $1,000.

I'm assuming you should have a dance prepared?? I'm not sure.

A company is also giving out a free honeymoon trip. I don't know the details on that.

I will have a booth set up there too. :)

Tickets are $10 in advanced and $15 at the door.

Teaching at CSM

I start my 2 classes at CSM this week. I am teaching "The Art of Photography" and "Portrait Photography."

I received an email on July 2, 2008 from CSM recognizing that I was interested in teaching. I had to start two of my own courses for the continuing education classes. So I decided on Portrait Photography and The Art of Photography. I teach on Tuesday and Thursday nights. I have started two blogs for both of the classes. They may help along with the 10 week schedule. So I'm excited to see what the weeks ahead will bring!

Well Sunday was a beautiful day... I was home alone with my two boys, Gus and Caesar. Jonathan took the d200 to MIR... didn't even end up using it... I was left with the Nikon d70. My first digital SLR like 6 years ago. Its my back up camera for weddings. Well Gus and Caesar love going outside and playing in the backyard. So I figured I'd go out there with them and play with the d70. haha Now some may laugh that I'd even consider shooting with that camera... I've always said... Owning a Nikon doesn't make you a photographer it makes you a Nikon Owner.... now Owning a $2,000 + camera doesn't make you a photographer it just makes you an owner of an expensive camera haha. Anyways... here are some images of my boys Gus and Caesar. Pure Breed Labs Born on June 10, 2007 ... Now so you know the difference... Gus has a box head... and in about 90% of these pics his tongue is out... thats him. Caesar is more serious haha. I'm framing this pics for my living room since they match :) And I wouldn't trade my boys for anything in the world!

Well Saturday October 11th was an extremely popular wedding date for 2008. I had so many requests for this day. Jaime scheduled me about a year ago and so it was hers!! Jaime and Adam's wedding was beautiful. What a fun and loving couple. I had so much fun shooting their special day. They made time for me to take formals before and after the ceremony. We snuck out twice to shoot during the reception and I think they are going to be happy that they did. Only 5 minutes here and there works! Here are some of my favs... Something Different

So I'm starting a thread... I'm extremely grateful for the people in my lives today. Over the years I've realized that life is short and you can't take things for granted. I've lost so many loved ones. I just want to take a moment to list a few things that I'm grateful for! I think everyone should. :)

I just want to say how happy I am...

1. I'm finally starting to feel better!!! after what 10 days of sickness.

2. Gus and Caesar make me so happy. They make me laugh everyday. Its a great feeling to be a Momma to two adorable crazy labs haha.

3. I'm so much in love with the man of my dreams and I couldn't be happier!

4. My photo business is doing really well!!! I couldn't ask for more.

5. I have the best parents in the world!!! My Mother is my best friend and I couldn't ask for a better parent! My father is my hero and I look up to him!

6. I was blessed with a baby brother!! Ethan will be 4 next year. WOW time goes by so fast. He loves his big sis!

7. I've finally made some close friends!!! I hope our friendships grow stronger!!! And I've kept in touch with my roomie... I love you!

8. How many people can say they honestly love their job? I can. :)

9. I'm proud to own a house with my Hunny.

10. I'm grateful for my overall health... and the health of my family and friends.

I know of a few people who are going through some rough times with Cancer. Theres really nothing I can say to make it better. I wish there was something I could do. Spend time with your family. Don't take life for granted. Dont' skip out on a family get together... for some boyfriend, or a party... you might just regret it.

I just want to share a little story...

I lost my Grandma, "Nanny" back in high school to Cancer. She lived with us, hospice (Olivia) came to take care of her, she passed in the middle of the night in July. It hurt... if it weren't for me getting sick for the entire summer before 10th grade we wouldn't have found out that she was sick. She was the kind of grandmother that would put everyone else first. She had a stroke and didn't even tell anyone! While I was in the hospital in Jackson Mississippi, the doctor notice her hand and arm... and told her she would have to be checked in. She said no, take care of my Kristie first. Once we got back to Maryland my Father took her to the doctors and we then found out she had cancer. It was one of the hardest moments of my life... Watching my grandmother pass away. She wouldn't let go. Dad told her it was ok to let go. But its like she didn't want to miss out on anything. I remember one night she started talking to herself... but as I paid close attention.. she was staring at the corner of the ceiling... said no, and shaking her head. So we assumed that Mam Maw was talking to her. I've always remembered that. Now to jump to another event in my life.. My Paw Paw passed away in March of 2006 due to complications with diabetes. The same EXACT thing happened in his hospital room. The day that he passed, he was shaking his head no, his eyes were wide open, looking up at the corner of the ceiling. At that moment I knew that someone was waiting for him. 10:26pm he let go, I held his hand and was there with him... as we all were there with him. It was hard. I hope no one has to go through that. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about that day. I remember it like it was yesterday.

Now that I've seen two people pass away I know that they were both welcomed to heaven by family. It was obvious that someone was waiting for them. It does bring peace to the mind.. but at the same time you don't want to let go. I understand. Time has to go by. Eventually time heals... never 100%. I still think of Nanny and Paw Paw all of the time. Their lives were taken way too early. Didn't even get to 60 yrs old. So again... spend time with loved ones. Let them know how you feel about them. You never know what may happen. One day Paw Paw was fine, the next in the hospital, few days later the doctors were saying he could go home, then a couple days later he said he wasn't going to make it. Lifes rushed. You just never know.

Lindsay and Brian Kauten married at Historic Londontown in Edgewater, MD. It was a perfect day to have a wedding. September 6th was their original wedding date. And if you have been reading my blog... I had a wedding that day in Bethany and there was a tropical storm. Lindsay and Brian believed everything happens for a reason. They had to push their date back to October 5, 2008. I enjoyed shooting pictures of this couple. We actually had time to shoot formals.

Today, Wednesday September 10th, I had my first Business Expo Show. It was in La Plata, MD at the Sleep in from 4-7pm. I set up a both will samples of my work. It turned out nice. I had a few friends and family members come by. Amanda, Chris, Mom, Dad, Heather, Mike, and Ethan. Thanks for stopping by!!! My parents are extremely proud of me. Chris contacted me a week in advance. He wanted to propose to Angie at the WWII Memorial on 9/10/08. September 10 is his grandparents wedding anniversary. His grandfather who was a WWII VET passed away about 6 months ago. This is why he wanted to propose to his future wife there. I was impressed with all of his planning. He wanted me to hide and take pictures while he asked her. It was nice to be there, to shoot something totally different. Kim went with me and we both shot from opposite sides. Nice job Chris!!! He had a few people watching as he went down on one knee. One man took a picture... he was much closer than I was. haha. Then the lady with him starting clapping. I mentioned this to Chris and Angie after and they had no idea. The two people were only about 10 feet away. haha. So after he proposed we went around taking pictures like it was a normal engagement shoot. Congratulations Chris and Angie!!!

My first wedding during a Tropical Storm

The week before the wedding on 9-6-08 I found myself watching the weather constantly. Hoping that Hurricane Hanna would clear up so we could shoot the wedding on the beach. Rafael and Stephanie had planned a beautiful wedding right on Bethany Beach. They had no idea that Hanna would be coming up the East Coast. Saturday morning, Kim and I drove to Bethany. We were worried the Bay Bridge would close either before or after the wedding. Luckily the weather was worse in Southern Maryland than it was on the Eastern Shore. They moved everything inside in Beach house, more like a Mansion. Everything turned out great. It was nice. There were approximately 40 guests at the most. The Bride was beautiful! Rafael was charming as well. The weather finally cleared out for a bit. So Kim and I took Stephanie and Rafael outside to shoot formals. Then invited everyone to enjoy the weather on the beach. We took pictures for about an hour. Time flew by so fast. It was perfect! I've never seen waves so big on the Eastern Shore. OC was only 5 minutes away. The waves had to be about 8-10ft hight. It was pretty amazing. Here are some images that I captured...

Engagement Shoot

September 31st I had an engagement shoot at the National Harbor in PG. It's a beautiful location!! Austin had proposed to Amanda on a pier there a few months ago and it was Austin's idea to do the shoot at the same place. I was impressed :) We did pictures before sunset. The lighting was nice. We did the majority of the pictures right outside of the Gaylord Hotel. It is so pretty there. I was excited!! Such a fun and cute couple. I'm happy with their pics. Future Miss. Maryland

I just recently shot pictures for a friend who is going for Miss. Maryland in November. I truly believe she has a really good chance of being crowned. Shes such a sweetheart. She has the nicest personality out of everyone I have ever met and shes gorgeous too!! She was recently a Cheerleader for the Baltimore Ravens. Now she is working in Baltimore. She has success written all over her. Her name is Allison Livingstone. I wish her the best of luck!!!! She has my vote.

It was beautiful out today. The weather was perfect. Perfect timing for Susans big day! She was marrying the love of her life, Allen. We met at the Smallwood State Park and took pictures before they got married at the Charles County Court House. 8-8-08 is suppose to be a lucky day. I saw on the news that couples were lining up to get married all over the world. I think its neat!!

Susan is also expecting a little one. So I bet things couldn't get any better for her. Allen is also in the Navy. Again, I appreciate all of our Men and Women in the armed forces!!! I'm happy for the both of you. Congratulations!!!!

Fourth of July Wedding Rehearsal

So this was the first Holiday that I've ever had to work on. It really didn't bother me. We usually just watch fireworks down at the base... nothing big. So.... It was just a wedding rehearsal. It was in Potomac, MD. Very nice area. Sunny and Anita were getting married the next morning. Anita wanted me to take pictures of the guests, family and friends. Katie and Chris were dating when we are all attending Westlake. We graduated in 2002. 6 years later they contacted me to do their wedding. I was excited for them!! We hadn't kept contact so I had no idea. Their wedding ceremony was in a beautiful church, St. John The Baptist, in Silver Spring. The reception was held at The Club at Andrews Air Force Base. It was neat to witness their day probably because I could still remember eating lunch together in the cafeteria our senior year and now they are all grown up! Congrats to Katie and Kluge... whoops I mean Chris :)

My Studio

So I wanted to tell everyone how my studio came about. My boyfriend and I moved into our house in Waldorf on May 2, 2007. Work on the Studio started about a month later. We had a 4 car garage. Someone had put an addition to the original garage. So we decided to put up a wall in the middle. My Father and Uncle Bruce did a lot of the work. They started putting the wall up on June 1, 2007. I'm blessed with loving family!! I'm lucky to have a father who does construction... he could probably do just about anything. So lucked out when it came to that.

I did originally paint the 2 walls blue. I wanted something different. I wanted to use the walls for my photography. I repainted my studio early this spring.
